A praralel trip to school

Wow, its been months since I've finished this page. The reason why I havent posted it this long is because I was sure I was gonna do this comic fast but It turned out It takes a lil more time to draw one page :P The cover is still a work in progress, which I will be posting someday lol.

The story (or sort of a story heheh) came to my mind one day when I was riding a bus to school. I quickly wrote it down to my sketchbook so I wouldnt forget it. Its about me (or should I say my mind) taking a different path to school that I usually do ^_^

*phew* Finally!

This illustration took me longer than expected. Actually, drawing Iruka took the most of time. Somehow he just wouldnt look right. Kakashi on the other hand, was drawn in just under an hour :D

Anyway, here they are! My two favorite shinobi ^_^

supernatural bigbang art post

Well, here it is, my posting date ^_^

For all of you who dont know what bigbang is, its an event that happens every year during summer when we have to wait for another season of supernatural to begin. A bunch of writers and artists join their forces and make the summer wait a lil bit easier. My job as an artist was to illustrate a story I picked based on the summaries we had to choose from.

I picked a story from ladyrhyanne and loverstar An Unforgettable Moment (In Time)

Business card?

Today, I got this neat idea for my still non-existent business card. I sat down behind computer, took my pen tablet and drew until this was finished ^_^

I think this came out pretty cute. I'll probably work on it a bit more before I actually print 100 of them hehe.

On top of the Rainbow launch day

Well here it is finnaly, the launch of the new blog design ^_^

Well, this design took me just about friggin half a year to finish (okay maybe a bit less, but long time anyway ^_^. If it weren't for Peter, I'd still be staring at the css code and wondering why the hell wasn't it working like it wanted it to. I also learned how the z-index works, so I think I can say that I leveled up *insert a cool level up scene* hehe.

I really like this design, and the way art turned out and Im still working on one drawing that will be a part of sumtin rather time consuming.

Libra

For the past half year, we've been creating our typography at typo classes. This subject is... was my very very very fav subject because ofcourse, there was a lot of practical work involved. Actually it was all practical ^_^. For once we didnt do just theory.

So, our job was to create our own font. I started with doodling in my sketchbook and generally had no idea how my font would look like. I almost went for my own handwriting, which is pretty minimalistic and looks like a linear font.
But making a handwritten font isn't really useful for longer paragraphs so I had to do a lil research. After checking out loads of fonts installed on my mac, I decided for a slab serif font with a prettier circular terminals on the top.

I honestly had NO idea that making a font required so much time and nerves. I also understand why the pro fonts are so expensive now.

We were also told that we needed to make a poster to present our font. Hehe, first, naming the font was like... huh? Then I couldn't come up with anything so instead of naming it nelifont, I named it Libra (being libra myself) coz it sounds nice. And it looks nice XD

I had a week to make this poster and until today (I have to bring it in tomorrow), I had no friggin idea how to present it. It was probably one of the very few projects for which I had no idea what to do. It hit me this morning that I could do a type libra, and I started working on it at 10am.

Lol, a friend of mine said that making this poster could take a while, especially coz I was making it. Boy, was he right. I spend 6-7 hours on this poster. The letters were killing me towards the end, and It was kind of cruel for my poor photoshop. The background used is from ofruin-stock

The paragraph down below is in slovene. If you wanna know what it says let me know and I'll translate it.

Edit: Here's a rough translation of the text in the poster

"Among the brick houses, the light caught in the fog draws a black silhouette of the night walker. The ground frozen with snow uncover a shadow, but they know not its way. A yellow light on top of the hill leads him around the corner of a street to a wall of the sleeping souls. Only the branches of the tall willows this night, mourn with them. On the other side of the dark cemetery the sounds of late drivers motors thunder in the late hours. The shadow, once again on the street, changes into a picture of a boy with floppy hair whose look is turned into the foggy end of the street. Trough the smells of the chicken, fried in an old oil, the sound of footsteps are hidden under the scaffold. The water drops fall from the boards onto the cold iron framework from which they make their last jump into the underground. A big white cat in the showcase window observes the hidden shadow. The boy continues his way past the houses with no curtains, towards the lake on the other side of an old castle. Somewhere in the fog above the ice a sea gull screams."

and here's a lil closeup of the libra. The poster size is 50x70cm.

Phew, this was a long rambling post hehe. Now I'll return to bashing my skull against the wall coz I have to finish the Face recognition project *sigh*... also until tomorrow heheh. I love being me...

One Piece - my wanted poster

So... by being a big fan of One Piece for the last month or two, I started drawing for the OP art meme, over at deviantarts. The first question was to draw myself as a pirate, and I drew this pic. Right after I drew it I got the idea to make myself a wanted poster. I think it came out pretty good hehee.

Except that I dont look like a pirate at all *laughs*

Japanese typography - school project

Uwah, its finally done. Im pretty happy with how it turned out. Sure beats the standard-boring format of the projects that we usually do hehe.

Since it was a project on Japanese typography, I decided to use the japanese binding and of course the right-left page setting hehe.

Arty days

So... I've been given a job on Sunday evening at 11pm, that I draw 6 chara illustrations and one story illustration until today evening. Im happy to say that I finished them all a bit earlier than expected (*phew* hehe).

Im really happy with how the king turned out. It's also my second attempt at drawing like this, no outlines and all. Im not too happy with the background tho, they've always been my weakness heh. But I'll make sure to work on that ^_^

Maybe you're wondering where's that first attempt at drawing in this style. I'll be posting that later with another piece. Lets just say that Im pretty happy with it ;)

Devil May Cry 4

Ahh... here it is. Another one of my obsessions hehe. Nero and Dante from DMC4, first try at drawing them heh, they're quite hard to draw.

I remember the first time I saw the game trailer. I kept staring at screen, thinking "did I really just see that??". The trailer was packed with emotion (yes people, DMC4 has the strongest storyline in all DMC series, at least thats my opinion), and it made me wanna see the whole thing right at that moment.

When I got the game, I spent two days behind my PC (which was lonely, since I work on mac all the time). I was completely overwhelmed by the ingame graphics and lenghty movies, which made me feel like I was watching a movie. *happy sigh*

Anyway, I'll definitely look deeper into this fandom (and try to avoid all crap fics written by horny 13 year-olds *shiver*)

My world

So, this is what I do when I'm bored to death at classes.

I enter the world, that is unknown to me. I meet weird creatures that inhabit the places that only exist in dreams.

I walk trough a forest of trees that look like giant mushrooms, with hats so big and heavy that it keeps me pondering how it's possible for it to stand on a thin trunk like that.

At last I sit down on the cliff, my feet tired from the exploring, and I watch a flock of Pantone birds fluttering trough the sky. In the distance, two enormous birds are walking among the high treetops as it were grass.

Like he said... "We discovered the land, where the snowflakes are born"

It was last day before we had to go back home, and we headed to see Rømø island. When we were crossing the bridge, we once again encountered the vast open space of nothingness. It still fascinated me, no matter how many times I saw it.

We parked ourselves just above the beach, that was covered with snow. Soon after we got in the car again, drove to the empty beach and tried out the handbreak. Yep, being young and stupid, it ruled while the car was spinning around and doing awesome sliding tricks (note that the beach was completely empty and there was no danger in causing an accident).

After we had our fun, we went on a long walk.

I like what Peter said about this place, that we discovered the land, where the snowflakes are born. Sounds poetic, doesn't it?

After my hands were frozen solid (yeah, I was stupid enough not to bring my gloves on this trip), we set for the oldest town in Denmark - Ribe. If i said before, that other places looked like something out of fairy tale, Ribe tops them all. Its a small town in a middle of nowhere looking like something that came out of an old book :D

When we got home, we watched a wicked movie called "Lucky People Center International".

A little break

So, the day before we were walking around Skagen, and then came home tired. At least I was hehe.

Anyways, we started the morning a bit later than usual. Peter went to his uni, to do some work and left us to do some poking around in the design shops.

Meanwhile, I took some photos of Kolding, that I missed the 2nd day, when my cam batteries were empty.

After a short run around town, we headed towards uni, to meet with Peter. We then hung around in the hallways and observed how Peter was preparing for a project, he'll be doing the next semester.

a nice lobby, where you can do anything, from eating to reading newspaper

this is a part of the Illustrators domain hehe. I'd love to work here

Peter claiming his spot for the next semester

We ended the day with going to bed a bit earlier.

Sand, sand, sand everywhere!

So, the day started early, coz we had to get out of the room at 10. We had a breakfast that consisted of bread and nutella. But that's not really important. We went to Skagen again today, but this time, we went all the way to the beach. When we got there, we got a breathtaking view of the sea and sandy beach with small dunes full of cute grassy wisps.

It was freezing cold, and the wind was blowing like it meant to blow us off the beach. The walk till the north-most point was long, coz I stopped every...hm, lets say minute, to take a picture XD. I couldn't help myself, it was awesome. The light that day was just wicked crazy, with sun and clouds mixing and casting this golden-silverish-blue colors everywhere.

Once we got in the middle of the beach, there was just nothing there! A big, no, HUGE vast space of sea and sand and clouds! I thought to myself, man, this is so like Denmark. Loads of empty space. Of course I'm not saying this is a bad thing, it's so friggin awesome! XD

After taking loads of shots of the beach, Peter said that he'll take us to the desert. My first thought was "desert? in Denmark? *snorts*. Turns out I was wrong :D

We first encountered an army, getting ready to train or something. I sneakily took a picture when they weren't looking hehe.

Then we started to climb on the huge, frozen sandy hill and once we got there, we once again saw nothing :D

I was like *squeee* we're in a desert! Awesome!

I think I wanna live here, it's so spacey!

we went crazy with taking pictures... heh, artists...

It would seem that it snows in this desert as well, it's an interesting desert.

photographers on a dangerous mission. I kept thinking, this looks like something from a game

aaand a nice sand texture for the end.

We walked around the desert for about an hour (or maybe it was two hehe, time passes fast when you're having fun), and then we set for home. We stopped in Aalborg for turist-y view and Horsens to see Peter's so called K-block, where they put all the exchange students. (He stayed there for a while, when he took danish courses).

The day ended with me staying up till 2AM coz both of the guys insisted on playing games.

We went to the north, but we didn't see Santa

We started around 10AM, and headed for Århus, an hour drive away from Kolding. We made a not-so-short stop there, walked around the city (which was awesome) and of course took pictures.

Peter was the driver, as usual hehe

We made a short stop here, and had some coffee. I drank the yummiest apple juice ever!

We walked around some more...

seen some interesting architectures...

and of course loads of windmills, that look SUPERAWESOME when you're standing right underneath it.

We left Århus, and headed for the northernmost point of Denmark - Skagen. The drive there lasted for 3 hours.

a funny shot of Garmin device showing us that we're really close to drive off the face of earth hehe.

Skagen was a small town by the sea, with small cute houses, lots of seagulls, ships and a REALLY cold wind. I thought my hands were gonna freeze solid :D We made a small circle around the town, went to a supermarket to buy carrots and candies, and then went to our hostel, which we already made a reservation for.

We got a 4 bed room, with a bathroom. Actually I was surprised that the place looked really decent, coz of my really bad experience with hostels in the past. We dropped off our luggage and went straight for the common kitchen which was... empty (lol, we weren't surprised).

both guys prepared the dinner, while I sat behind the table and waited. Its funny not to be the one who cooks all the time :D

We had spaghetti (again) and afterwards settled in the room to watch a very... hm, cant really say what kind of a movie it was, it was just absurd. Uh... anyway, we watched a movie called Big fish. I really loved the photographic shots of it, and it was like reading a fairy tale book.

After the movie, we lay in our beds and chatted until we decided it was time to sleep. Tomorrow was gonna be a busy day.

And then there was THE Sun

The second day started early for me 7AM, when both guys slept till 9AM. When we looked out the window... there was the SUN! Actually, it was funny coz Peter said that there was no sun in the last month (except of the 5 min once) and he made a big deal out of it hehe.

Just before we went out, I realized I made a very stupid mistake. I didnt recharge my battery the night before, coz I was sure that my second was full... which wasnt. So I was left without the camera on a beautiful day :P

Of course we went out for a long walk to check out Kolding. Its a pretty town, and even emptier than København. We climbed on a small hill to see the city castle and once we arrived on top, a gorgeous view opened up. There was this half frozen lake, with lots of ducks, seagulls and sum funny chicks :D

The view from our front door

and the view from the window (Peter's photo)

the lake seen from the hill (Peter's photo)

I have no idea what the name for that bird is but for some reason I find it really funny :D (Peter's photo)

heheh, some silly little girl called me (Peter's photo)

We also had some coffee at a coffee shop, which was also empty at first. It kind of feels funny when you're the only one walking around in empty town and laughing out loud. But it was sunday, and people were probably sleeping at home.

After the walk, we went to see Peter's university. Oh man, it was SO AWESOME! Compared to ours its like... dude, they cant be compared. I wish I went here on a student exchange... hm maybe I will. Next year.

After the uni-tour, we went home and ate spaghetti, played with iPhone and lazed around a bit. By the time we decided for an evening walk to the seaside, my batteries recharged so I took my beloved cam with me ;D.

On our way to the sea, we encountered a building that made us go wtf :D

the interesting building

A few minutes walk, and we arrived at the seaside. The day was already shifting into the night, so we had a wonderful view to the moon reflecting from the sea.

Ofcourse, we had to document everything. Photo-maniacs haha.

We then decided to turn around and head back home. But not for long hehe, we packed a laptop and took off to the uni. Yep, it was 8pm, sunday evening and we went to school (lol), to watch a movie. On the way, we encountered a snow blizzard, so when we actually arrived there in 10 min's flat, we were all white from head to feet. The school itself was eerily empty, except for two or three eager students who were still working.

I love it how Danish students can enter their school with a card and a security code given to each student

We watched 2 good movies (Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Persepolis) on the projection screen, untill midnight, and then we went home, where we stayed up until 4am.

Lol, I was so beat that I was just too lazy to make a post hehe... so, you'll get another post today, for day 3.

I think I've seen....nothingness

So, me and my classmate decided that we'll visit our friend thats on a student exchange in Denmark.

After getting up at 5AM, me and my friend arrived at the airport, gone trough security checks and waited for the boarding time.

After an hour and thirty minutes of flying (and watching a cool movie called Righteous Kill), we arrived in the airport in København where Peter waited for us... or should I say we waited for him to show up, coz he was busy getting himself some cofefe first.

We went on a drive around the town then, and parked somewhere so we could explore the city. Even though Peter warned us about empty cities, it was still fascinating to see nearly empty streets on a Saturday morning.

Kind of looks like a ghost town, doesn't it?

Oh look cars! It so funny, you can cross over a "busy" road in town with no problem, coz they're EMPTY haha!

We walked around for hours, and my feet were beginning to kill me (for someone that sits all day and draws stupid things, I have no stamina at all hehe). The weather wasn't so good, it was dark and foggy with 2°C and a cold wind =_=. But otherwise, København seems like an interesting place with VERY short traffic light intervals for pedestrians (or as Peter said grandma-unfriendly traffic lights).

some interesting architectures

I love how the houses are all different colors, even it the foggy weather, they look nice :D

two brave people that decided they wanted to train in this fearful weather

We went to the beach, just before the end of day and encountered a path full of Denmark flags. When we asked Peter why there were so many, he just shrugged and said "I guess they're happy". Sadly my battery died after taking this pic, and I wasn't able to document anymore XD...

After a tour around København, we went on a two hour drive home to Kolding. We crossed this wickedly awesome bridge, that I'm sure I'll take pictures off when we cross it again coz it was awesome!

Ok, so this was it for the day one... which was yesterday. I was to tired to do anything when we came home hehe. I'll be posting the second day later as well.

On Top Of The Rainbow Animation

Well, its finally here! The animation that I made during animation festival Animateka 2008. We had a week to come up with idea and draw it in the TV Paint Animation. I stretched my deadline to two weeks, coz I like to complicate stuff and love to give attention to details.

<lj-embed id="5" />
Enjoy ;)

Oh, if you want to see the animation in its original size, you can see it here

So, another year is coming to an end and now its time that we think about what we're gonna do trough the next year. DRAW A LOT! Yey hehee ^_^

Im almost certain that I'll buy myself a Wacom Cintiq 12w. Now hopefully, this thingie will speed up my drawing so I could update blog and comics more often :D

Anyway, I hope you guys have a great New Year! Also, thankyou for all your comments, they always make my day ;)

Happy holidays everyone!

Oh, btw, expect to see more of me in 2008.
The Kingdom of The Sun

Well, the cheesy title aside, another sneak peak to the animation thingie I'm making. This is the 4th background scene and the final one in my story hehe.

Of animating and baloons...

Ugh, right now im so dead tired that im barely keeping my eyes open. Staring at an old CRT monitor does things to your head.

So, 4th day of animating, and I have barely something to show. I made a mistake here and went waaay to much into details. But anyway, I'll have another week to finish this thingie, before the last deadline... I hope I'll make it.

This here is a frame, taken out of the animation. Whats missing are the whales and clouds. Oh man, I'll have a busy day tomorrow...

First animation

Well, I made my first longer animated thingie today. We had to animate a ball bouncing, and I made it more... weird goo thing bouncing. It was quite fun, I actually put more attention to the girl watching the ball (...or whatever goo thingie), that's why the goo looks... well, weird :D

We used this proggy called TVPaint Animation, with a very fugly interface, but still manageable.

But I like it a lot!

I'll start on the story tomorrow, cant wait to see the end result!

Animation

I decided that this year, I'll take the animation classes over at some private art school. My first day of animating is tomorrow (or not, since we still have to do the storyboard) so my mentor said that we need to tell a story of some sort in 3 images. He was VERY unspecific of what he really wanted, kind of like "ah, just do this so we wont be only staring at each other for few hours).

I dunno what's with me and the Rainbows, but I find them fascinating. I'd like to fly my baloon to a rainbow one day, sit on a bench and enjoy the view hehe. I also find the idea of flying whales pretty awesome so I used them here. Might add some other creatures later on, but this is what I have for the start :D
